Mass Deployment with NetRestore for Mac OS X v10.4.x

This one day course is for those who are familiar with Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server. When you are ready to deploy Macs en masse you want some automation and ease of use. You also need flexibility in your deployment options. This hands-on instructor lead class will walk you through setting up a Mac OS X server to host disk images and provide DHCP and Netboot services. This course utilizes Open Source applications in addition to Mac OS X Server software.

Course Outline Chapter 1 Introduction Discussion of delivery options and tools. Take inventory of hardware and software Choose a delivery Method Chapter 2 Installation Install and set up your Mac OS X workstation with three partitions. Setup Mac OS X Server and enable AFP, NFS, and Netboot. Configure NetRestore PHP Services for tracking persistent information on machines you image regularly. Chapter 3 User, Application and Permissions Setup Install Applications, check security, create users, test logins and printing. Chapter 4 Preparing the Master Image Make an Apple Software Restore-ready disk image. Setup disk images for enabling NetInstall Chapter 5 Testing the Deployment Methods Restore your machine via multicast ASR via NetRestore using Netboot and at least one other boot method
